Protecting the Mythical Acheron: A Dragonfly Kayak Community Cleanup

At Dragonfly Kayak, we believe that exploring nature also means taking care of it. The Acheron River, with its mythical history and stunning natural beauty, is more than just a workplace for us—it’s our home and a sanctuary we must protect. That’s why we recently organized a special community river cleanup, and the results were incredible!

The Acheron River, located near the picturesque town of Parga, is famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and the dramatic gorge it carves through the landscape. For many visitors, it's a highlights of their activities in the region, offering a serene escape and unique experiences. However, preserving this natural paradise requires continuous effort.

Our team, along with a dedicated group of volunteers, spent a full day out on the water, not just paddling but carefully collecting debris from the riverbanks and water surface. We targeted plastic bottles, discarded packaging, and natural obstacles that could hinder the ecosystem.

This wasn't just about cleaning up; it was a celebration of community and shared responsibility. Seeing everyone, from children to experienced kayakers, work together with smiles on their faces was truly inspiring. It reinforced our commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship in the Parga area.
